Payments & Payouts

Net Proceeds

The amount a program actually receives after platform and processing fees are deducted from total donations raised.

What it means

Net proceeds are the actual dollar amount a program receives after HypeRaise's platform fee and any applicable Stripe processing fees have been deducted from the total donations collected. This is the figure that matters most for budgeting purposes, since it reflects what will actually show up in the program's bank account rather than the gross total displayed on the public campaign page.

How it works on HypeRaise

The calculation is straightforward: total donations collected, minus the platform fee, minus processing fees (unless donors covered those fees themselves through the cover-fee prompt), equals net proceeds. This is the number that ends up in a program's payout, and the number a treasurer should use when comparing platform reporting against an actual bank deposit.

Key details

Reporting net proceeds clearly and separately from the gross fundraising total prevents a common source of confusion: a program that raised a large gross total but received a lower net amount after fees needs that distinction clearly explained, both internally to the treasurer reconciling the deposit and externally to boosters or school leadership reviewing the campaign's results.

Programs that actively encourage donors to accept the cover-fee prompt tend to see net proceeds land closer to the gross total, since a larger share of individual fees get absorbed by donors voluntarily rather than deducted from the program's side.

Why it matters for administrators

Reporting net proceeds clearly, rather than just the gross amount raised, prevents confusion when a program is comparing its bank deposit to its fundraising total.
