Fundraising Fundamentals
Non-cash support, such as donated equipment or services, that a program receives alongside its monetary fundraising.
An in-kind donation, sometimes called an in-kind sponsorship, is support given to a program in a form other than cash: donated equipment, printing services, venue space, or products contributed by a local business or family. It sits alongside a program's cash fundraising rather than replacing it.
Because in-kind support does not move through a payment processor, it is not automatically captured in HypeRaise's donation or payout reporting the way a cash gift is. Programs that want to document in-kind contributions typically track them separately and note them alongside their platform-based fundraising totals when reporting overall program support to boosters or school leadership.
In-kind support can meaningfully offset a program's actual expenses even when it does not appear in a campaign's dollar total. A local print shop donating banners, or a business providing free use of a venue for a fundraising event, reduces what the program would otherwise need to spend, even though neither shows up as a line item in the campaign's fundraising goal.
Administrators reporting overall program support to a board or booster membership often present in-kind contributions as a separate line alongside cash totals, since combining the two into a single number can misrepresent how much cash the program actually has on hand.
Tracking in-kind support separately from cash donations gives administrators an accurate picture of total program support without overstating actual cash on hand.
HypeRaise gives coaches, boosters, and parent volunteers the tools to run a centralized, transparent, and effective campaign.
