A donation is the core transaction of the platform: a payment made by a supporter to a specific campaign or participant. Every other reporting feature on HypeRaise, from campaign totals to participant leaderboards to payout amounts, is built from the underlying record of individual donations.
When a donor gives, the transaction captures the donor's name (unless the donor chooses to give anonymously), the amount, the date, and which participant or campaign the gift is credited to. Payment is processed through Stripe, HypeRaise's payment processor, which handles card authorization and fraud screening before the funds are recorded against the program's balance.
Donations appear in campaign and participant reporting immediately, which is what makes real-time progress bars and leaderboards possible. There is no batch delay between when a donor gives and when that gift shows up in the program's records, so administrators, coaches, and participants can all see current totals at any moment rather than waiting for an end-of-week update.
Donations can be structured a few different ways depending on the campaign type: a flat one-time gift, a donation tied to a matching gift program through the donor's employer, or a pledge amount calculated after an event based on performance. Regardless of structure, every donation generates an automatic receipt for the donor and is reflected in the program's exportable reporting.
Every donation is tracked and reportable at the individual and campaign level, which supports the transparency programs need for internal accounting and parent communication.
